The UDW Resource Center (URC) was founded by UDW/AFSCME Local 3930 to uplift and support home care and family child care providers across California. UDW represents IHSS providers who are publicly paid home care workers for older Californians and individuals with disabilities of all ages, as well as family child care providers in numerous counties. Unlike their publicly employed counterparts, private sector home care workers, who often face low wages and wage theft, are not unionized in California or elsewhere in the United States. These caregivers predominantly work for small private agencies. Some UDW members navigate both the public and private sectors.

We are dedicated to providing organizing support to all care workers, from childcare to long-term care, regardless of union affiliation. We focus particularly on rural counties and regions in Central and Southern California, including San Diego, Orange, Riverside, and Imperial Counties. As an independent nonprofit, separate from UDW, we are committed to fostering solidarity and empowerment among care workers.
